These hymns were written for A Sanctified Art’s “Wilderness” Lent Worship Series.

  1. Wilderness Gifts Us a Holy Disruption (A General Hymn for the Season of Lent) - This hymn is written in 11.11.11.11 and is sung to the tune O QUANTA QUALIA. Although it would be particularly fitting for an Ash Wednesday service or for the first Sunday in Lent, it would work for any worship service during the season.

  2. A Trumpet Blows on Zion’s Hill (A Hymn Inspired by Joel 2:1-2, 12-17) - This is a hymn I wrote for Lent about five years ago and is written in CMD and is suggested to be sung to KINGSFOLD.

  3. From the Water to Wilderness (A Hymn Inspired by Matthew 4:1-11) - This hymn is written in 8.8.8.8 and is sung to the tune WALK WITH ME which is commonly used to sing “I Want Jesus to Walk with Me.”

  4. In the Garden God Told Adam (A Hymn Inspired by Genesis 2:15-17; 3:1-7) - This hymn is written in 8.7.8.7 with refrain and is sung to the tune RESTORATION which is commonly used to sing “Come, Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy.”

  5. For God So Loved the World (A Hymn inspired by John 3:16-17) - This hymn is written in 6.6.6.6.8.8 and is sung to the tune DARWALL’S 148TH which is commonly used to sing “Come Sing, O Church, in Joy!”

  6. I Journey Through the Wilderness (A Sung Paraphrase of Psalm 121) - This hymn is written in CMD (8.6.8.6 D) and is sung to the tune FOREST GREEN. However, it could also easily be sung to NOEL, RESIGNATION, or ELLACOMBE.

  7. Why Stands the Woman by the Well? (A Hymn inspired by John 4:5-42) - This hymn is written in CMD (8.6.8.6.D) and is sung to the tune NOEL.
