"Wilderness Gifts Us a Holy Disruption"
/Here’s a hymn for the Season of Lent. It’s inspired by the Sanctified Art’s theme for Lent in 2020, “Wilderness.” It is written in 11.11.11.11 and is sung to the tune O QUANTA QUALIA.

Wilderness gifts us a holy disruption;
Driven by Spirit to wander in waiting.
Here we are tempted by evil’s corruption;
Trusting in God to continue creating.
Blessed discomfort renews all our focus;
Dares us to plow through the din of distraction.
Then in God’s time we shall bloom like the crocus,
Rooted in gardens of grace-guided action.
Sacred and dangerous, wild, wide, and wondrous,
Wilderness trains us for Christ’s resurrection.
What seems so scarce is, for God, truly boundless.
Nothing’s so harsh to escape God’s affection.
Come, you God’s people, the time’s now for learning.
Lent is the journey of Jesus’ temptation.
Wilderness brings with it truth and discerning.
Then at the tomb will we find our salvation.
