Epiphany 2C
January 17th, 2016
Here's a confession sequence for the 2nd Sunday after the Epiphany (Year C) inspired by 1 Corinthians 12:1-11.
Call to Confession
Let us confess our sins before our merciful God
who welcomes honesty and a penitent heart.
Confession
God of our formation,
you have blessed us with many gifts -
gifts to heal, to uplift, to sing, to feed, to care, and to redeem.
But we often choose to squander these gifts
and instead choose to be that which you did not create -
people of violence, fear, oppression, selfishness, and greed.
We confess to you these sins and ask your forgiveness.
Help us embrace the gifts you have created within us
that we may turn from sin and turn to you
and serve the people to whom you have called us.
This we pray in your merciful name. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon
Friends, hear the good news of the Gospel,
our sins have been forgiven
and our gifts redeemed
for God has heard our cry and blesses us with mercy.
Alleluia! Amen!
