Here’s a hymn inspired by Romans 13:11-14. It is written in LM (18.104.22.168) and, while it can be sung to many tunes, WINCHESTER NEW and PUER NOBIS NASCITUR are recommended. Both tunes are provided in PDF form below. Romans 13:11-14 shows up in the Revised Common Lectionary for the 1st Sunday of Advent (Year A).

The night is gone, the day is near, and sunlight’s warmth will soon appear.
Shake off your sleep and greet the morn for God’s steadfast shalom is born.
The loud cacophony distracts: the news, the tweets, the war on facts.
So stay the course, protect what’s true; in everything, God’s path pursue.
Let’s live in honor, choose what’s right, and leave the shadows in the night.
God’s newness comes, the dawn will break; let’s marvel at what love will make!
