"Eternal Parent, Mother God"
/Here’s a hymn of both lament and hope regarding the sinful culture of anti-immigrant rhetoric that has long resided in this country. It is written in 8.8.8.8.8.8 and is sung to the tune, MELITA, which is commonly used to sing “Eternal Father, Strong to Save.”

Eternal Parent, Mother-God, who birthed the people we’ve outlawed,
forgive our foolish, fearful ways, and to the migrant turn our gaze.
O hear us when we cry to thee for desperate families forced to flee.
O Savior, cruelly crucified, you see your rule of love denied.
Born on the run, a migrant child, escaping from a tyrant wild.
O hear us when we cry to thee for desperate families forced to flee.
O Holy Spirit, truth divine, help us to follow your design;
where parents find a safer space, and racist rulers cease their chase.
O hear us when we cry to thee for desperate families forced to flee.
O Trinity, the Holy Dance, help us your mercy to advance.
When fear-full voices roar and rage, we’ll usher in a kinder age.
O hear us when we cry to thee for desperate families forced to flee.
